Decathlon Recalls Allegedly Defective Domyos Swiss Balls Due to Risk of Injury


SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Decathlon USA has announced a recall of its Domyos Swiss balls after reports that the exercise balls can unexpectedly burst during use, causing users to fall and suffer impact injuries.

The recall includes Domyos Swiss balls, also sold as Pilates or gym balls, with model numbers 8529175, 8529176, and 8529177. The balls were sold in blue, bordeaux, and gray, ranging in diameter from 21.65 to 29.53 inches and in weight from 10.6 to 10.9 ounces. The brand name “Domyos,” along with the diameter and weight, is printed near the base of each ball.

Decathlon has received at least 26 reports of the balls bursting unexpectedly, including six cases of injury.
