Magnussen Home Recalls Allegedly Defective Nova Series Chests for Tip-Over Risk


HIGH POINT, N.C. – Magnussen Home has announced a recall of its Nova Series 5-Drawer Chests after determining the furniture can pose tip-over and entrapment hazards to children if not secured to a wall.

The recalled units include Model B1428-10 chests, which are 54 inches tall, 40 inches wide, and 18 inches deep, finished in brown wood with a walnut veneer. A label on the back, in the top left corner, lists the model number and manufacturing date code, which appears in MMYY format between AG09 and AG15.

The chests do not meet the voluntary safety requirements under ASTM F2057-19, which are designed to prevent tip-overs. Magnussen Home has received one report of a chest tipping over and causing injury.
