WHILL Recalls Allegedly Defective Model Ci Personal Electric Vehicles Over Crash and Injury Risk


SAN CARLOS, Calif. – WHILL has announced a recall of its Model Ci personal electric vehicles after reports of control pad malfunctions that can cause sudden changes in power or speed, posing crash and injury hazards to users.

The recall applies to WHILL Model Ci mobility devices, which are motorized, occupant-controlled chairs powered by lithium-ion batteries. The affected units have serial numbers ranging from C_1711188_US to C_1909011_US, located on a label attached to the seat assembly. The devices feature a single seat mounted on a four-wheel platform, with black frames and arm covers available in white, red, blue, or black. “WHILL” and “Model Ci” are printed on the battery compartment.

WHILL has received reports of power control malfunctions that could cause the vehicles to start, stop, or change speed unexpectedly.
