Toyota Recalls Nearly 600,000 Allegedly Defective Vehicles Over Dashboard Malfunction That Can Lead to Crash and Injury


WASHINGTON — Toyota is recalling about 590,000 vehicles across the United States due to a defect that could increase the risk of a crash.

According to the automaker, the issue involves a faulty dashboard panel in certain Toyota and Lexus models. The defect can cause the 12.3-inch instrument display to remain blank at startup, preventing drivers from seeing malfunction indicators. If a vehicle problem occurs while the display is blank, the driver may be unaware and continue operating the vehicle, creating a safety hazard.

The recall impacts specific models of the Toyota Venza, Crown, Crown Signia, RAV4, GR Corolla, 4Runner, Camry, Grand Highlander, Tacoma, and Highlander, as well as the Lexus LS, RX, and TX.
