Edwin Burton Killed in Workplace Accident at Eastern Kentucky University


RICHMOND, Ky. — A contractor was killed Tuesday while working on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.

According to the Madison County Coroner, 61-year-old Edwin Burton II of Illinois died in the basement of Telford Hall when an air conditioning unit fell on him.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, but Burton was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.

University officials have not released additional details about the accident or the project involved.

Work accidents must be investigated to determine all that went wrong
