Man Killed, One Seriously Injured in an Accident Involving a Semi-truck Near the Intersection of Route 53 and Dollar Tree Lane in Joliet, Illinois


JOLIET, Ill. – A man was killed and a passenger was seriously injured Wednesday night in a crash involving a semi-truck near the intersection of Route 53 and Dollar Tree Lane.

Authorities said a Volvo semi tractor-trailer was heading east on Dollar Tree Lane and attempting to turn left onto northbound Route 53 when the crash occurred. A southbound Dodge Dart struck the trailer and became trapped underneath.

The 40-year-old driver of the Dodge, a Wilmington resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released. A person in the rear seat was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
