BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A motorcyclist was killed Sunday evening after colliding with a semi-truck at an intersection in south Bakersfield, according to police.

The Bakersfield Police Department reported that the crash occurred around 6 p.m. at the intersection of South Union Avenue and Welch Avenue. Investigators said the motorcyclist was heading west on Welch when the collision happened with a semi-truck traveling north on South Union.

The rider sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
