Three Killed, Two Seriously Injured in an Accident on the 10 Freeway in Ontario, California: Semi-truck Driver Arrested for DUI

ONTARIO, Calif. — A multi-vehicle crash involving several tractor-trailers and passenger cars on the 10 Freeway in Ontario left at least three people dead and two others hospitalized on Tuesday afternoon.

The collision occurred when a semi-truck slammed into stopped traffic, triggering a chain reaction and igniting a large fire. Witnesses reported seeing the truck approach at high speed without braking before impact.

Authorities said the truck driver was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Families and Survivors Deserve Answers After Deadly Truck Crashes Caused by Impaired Drivers

A careless choice took three lives, left two people badly injured, and forever changed the families involved. What was an impaired driver even doing behind the wheel? This is never acceptable. Not only does the truck driver have a lot to answer for, but so does the trucking company that hired him.

Like, did the trucking company overlook red flags in hiring, or fail to implement proper screening procedures? Were effective drug and alcohol testing policies enforced, with zero tolerance for violations? If the company neglected its responsibilities to ensure public safety, it, too, must be held accountable.

Having decades of experience handling commercial truck cases, we have seen it all. We have seen crashes caused by drivers impaired by alcohol and other substances that should never be mixed with operating a vehicle. We have witnessed trucking companies try to minimize their role, but trucking companies have a duty to ensure their drivers are properly trained on substance use and regularly tested to keep our roads safe.

Three people are gone. Two others are fighting to recover. The injured and all the families deserve more than sympathy — they deserve justice, accountability, and the truth about what went wrong.
