Pierre Mack Killed in Construction Zone Accident on Interstate 35W in Burnsville, Minnesota


BURNSVILLE, Minn. — A construction worker was killed Wednesday morning in an accident along Interstate 35W in Burnsville. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident happened in the work zone between Highway 13 and Burnsville Parkway.

According to reports, 29-year-old Pierre Mack was walking in the construction area when he was struck by a vehicle outfitted with a boom attachment.

No further details have been released.

Construction accident must be investigated to determine all that went wrong

Every worker deserves to return home safely to their family after their shift. When a fatal accident occurs, families are often left with overwhelming grief and asking: How did this happen? While waiting for answers, we know that safety lapses are often the cause of fatal incidents.

What safety protocols were in place at this construction site? How did a vehicle with a boom attachment manage to strike Mr. Macki? Did the operator not see him?  What went wrong here?

Mr. Mack’s family deserves to know whether this tragedy could have been prevented through better site planning and safety measures. My hope is that they receive the support they need to navigate their long road ahead.
