Cinmar Recalls Allegedly Defective Frontgate Chaise Lounge Chairs Due to Finger Amputation Hazard


WASHINGTON — Cinmar LLC has recalled its Frontgate Resort Collection Newport Aluminum and Teak Chaise Lounge Chairs after reports of serious finger injuries linked to the adjustable backrest mechanism.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that when the backrest is adjusted while someone is seated, it can drop suddenly with force, creating a risk of finger crushing or amputation.

The recall covers all Newport Aluminum Chaises (SKU 67333), sold in pairs in five colors — architectural bronze, champagne silver, cobalt, matte black, and matte white — and Newport Teak Chaises (SKU 166218), sold in pairs in weathered and natural finishes. The chairs measure about 51 inches long and 31 inches wide, with mesh seating and a four-position adjustable backrest. “FRONTGATE” is displayed on a silver badge at the back of each chair.

Injury reports include two partial finger amputations and one finger-crushing injury requiring surgery.
