Petzl Recalls Allegedly Defective Swan Easyfit Steel and Stainless Harnesses Due to Risk of Fatal Fall Injury


SALT LAKE CITY – Petzl has announced a recall of several harness models after discovering a defect in certain batches of its Fast LT buckle that could fail during use and lead to serious or fatal falls.

The recall covers specific production runs of Swan Easyfit Steel (C062AA00, C062AA01) and Swan Easyfit Stainless (C062BA00, C062BA01) harnesses sold in the U.S. and Canada.

According to Petzl, the problem stems from certain Fast LT buckles that can break under stress. Depending on the model, failure of the buckle could allow a user to slip out of the harness completely or cause the harness to detach from its dorsal attachment point.
