5.11 Recalls Allegedly Defective Tactec Plate Carriers for Risk of Injury


IRVINE, Calif. – 5.11 has recalled certain Tactec Plate Carriers after discovering a defect in the quick-release system that could prevent the vest from being removed quickly in an emergency, creating an injury risk.

The recall applies to Tactec Plate Carriers, style number 56100, with specific purchase order (PO) numbers: US.PO-00022756, US.PO-00023827, US.PO-00024126, US.PO-00024125, US.PO-00024380, and US.PO-00024621. The affected carriers have “5.11” molded on a rubber label on the lower left front, and the identifying numbers can be found on a tag sewn into the inside seam of the front pocket.

The plate carriers are designed for law enforcement, first responders, and consumers, and can be used with ballistic plates or weighted fitness plates.

The company has received two reports of the quick-release cable separating from the handle, which would prevent swift removal of the carrier.
