Richard Thurman Killed, Another Injured in Industrial Accident in Georgetown, Kentucky


GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Authorities have identified the man killed in an industrial accident at International Crankshaft in Georgetown.

Authorities report that 35-year-old Richard Thurman died while performing maintenance on an industrial machine at the facility early Saturday morning.

A second individual was also injured in the incident and taken to a hospital. Their condition has not been released.

Thoughts on fatal industrial accidents

We don’t have much detail about what went wrong here, but from our experience handling similar cases, these incidents are almost always preventable and stem from some safety or equipment failure.
