Bell Sports Recalls Defective Bicycle Helmets Due to Risk of Head Injury


WASHINGTON — Bell Sports is recalling certain adult bicycle helmets after federal safety officials determined they do not meet required safety standards and may not provide adequate protection in a crash.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the strap anchor on Bell Slope helmets can detach from the helmet under force. The defect violates federal safety rules for bicycle helmets and poses a risk of head injury.

The recall applies only to adult Bell Slope helmets, sold in dark green and light blue. Affected helmets can be identified by an interior label with the model name “Slope” and the code “B1161X.”
