U.S. Boiler Company Recalls Defective Gas-Fired Boilers for Carbon Monoxide Hazard


WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Boiler Company has recalled several models of gas-fired hot water residential boilers after discovering that a safety device may fail at higher elevations, creating a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the blocked vent switch on the affected boilers may not correctly shut down the burners if the vent becomes obstructed when installed at altitudes above 5,400 feet. This failure could allow dangerous levels of carbon monoxide to enter the home.

The recall includes boilers sold under the brand names U.S. Boiler, New Yorker Boiler, Advantage, FORCE, and Archer. Affected models stand about 40 inches tall and can be identified by their color and brand logo placement:

  • S. Boiler ES2 and Series 3 (blue with black top/front, logo on front)
  • S. Boiler X-2 (teal with logo centered in front)
  • Archer Lancer (gray with blue top, logo on front)
  • FORCE G-3 (solid gray with logo on front)
  • New Yorker CG-E and CG-F (green with logo on front)
  • Advantage AG models (various sizes, logo on front)

Model and serial numbers are listed on the boiler rating plate.

  • S. Boiler ES2: ES23, ES24, ES25, ES26, ES27, ES28, ES29 (with or without “-N” or “-P”)
  • S. Boiler Series 3: 303–309 (with or without “-N” or “-P”)
