One Person Killed in Car Crash with Parked Semi-truck on U.S. 19 in Fanning Springs, Florida

FANNING SPRINGS, Fla. — A girl from Chiefland died Tuesday morning after her vehicle collided with a semi-truck on U.S. Highway 19, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities said the semi was improperly parked in the northbound right lane near Northwest 160th Street, just south of Fanning Springs. The teen, traveling north, was unable to stop and struck the rear of the trailer.

She was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

No additional details have been released.

Public roadways are not where trucks should be parked
