Semi-Truck Driver Injured in Loose Tire Accident on U.S. Highway 36 in Brown County, Kansas

BROWN COUNTY, Kan. — A Seneca man was hospitalized after a semi-truck lost a tire and overturned on U.S. Highway 36, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The incident happened on Thursday morning near Falcon Road.

According to authorities, the semi was traveling eastbound when its left front tire came loose, causing the truck to veer off the road and roll into a ditch.

The truck driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Commercial truck tire failure accidents must be investigated

Truck drivers already face numerous dangers on the road; driving in an unsafe vehicle should not be one of them. Yet, we continue to see an increasing number of tire failures on commercial trucks like this one across the country. Truck drivers and passenger motorists alike are getting seriously injured and killed in tire malfunction incidents. Many times, these tire incidents occur because of defective tires that should never have been on our roadways.

Defective tires should never even make it on our roadways. When a tire is deemed defective, the manufacturer is responsible for any serious injuries or deaths the product causes. Manufacturers cannot produce a faulty tire with structural flaws that harm the motoring public and not be held accountable for it.

In the case here with the semi-truck, we do not know what caused the tire to come loose. What we do know is that we are handling more of these cases, and trained tire and law professionals must investigate this beyond the initial report.

Truck drivers have a right to do their jobs safely. Manufacturers have a responsibility to produce safe tires that are free from defects. Surviving families have a right to know if their loved one’s passing could have been prevented.

May all the facts come out.
