Six Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident Involving a Logging and Dump Truck on Route 2 In Phillipston, Massachusetts


PHILLIPSTON, Mass. – A chain-reaction crash involving several vehicles and a logging truck left eight people injured on Route 2 Monday morning.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, a logging truck and a passenger car caught fire during the collision, and one individual had to be pulled from a burning vehicle. That person was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Five others were transported to area hospitals.

Authorities report that traffic had backed up behind an oversized vehicle stopped in a merge lane, and oncoming drivers were unable to see the stopped vehicles until it was too late. A dump truck, two vans, and two pickup trucks were also part of the crash.

No additional details have been released.
