Subaru Recalls More Than 541,000 Vehicles Due to Incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating Labels Increasing the Risk of a Crash


WASHINGTON — Subaru has announced a recall of more than 541,000 vehicles after discovering that certain models were equipped with incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) labels, which could increase the risk of vehicle overloading and crashes.

The recall affects the following Subaru models:

  • 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid
  • 2025–2026 Subaru Forester
  • 2025–2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid
  • 2019–2026 Subaru Ascent

The Subaru Ascent accounts for the majority of the recalled vehicles, with approximately 383,800 units included in the recall.
