Katherine Trask and James Trask Jr. Killed in Rear-End Accident with a Grove Crane on State Highway 137 in Glasscock County, Texas


GLASSCOCK COUNTY, Texas — Two people were killed Tuesday after a Grove crane struck an SUV from behind on State Highway 137 in Glasscock County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, an SUV was traveling north on State Highway 137 when the crane rear-ended it. The impact caused the SUV to spin counterclockwise and lose control.

The SUV driver, Katherine Trask, and her passenger, James Trask, suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to DPS, the crane driver allegedly failed to control their speed, which contributed to the collision.

A Grove crane vehicle has no business traveling at a speed that prevents its driver from maintaining control and safely responding to traffic ahead. These are massive, heavy vehicles that require additional time and distance to slow down or stop. When one strikes a passenger vehicle from behind, the consequences can be devastating, as seen here.
