STIHL Recalls Allegedly Defective Backpack Blowers Due to Laceration Hazard Risk


WASHINGTON — STIHL has announced a recall of certain BR 800 Magnum backpack blowers due to a defect that poses a risk of laceration, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Officials said the fan wheel inside the blower can break apart during use, potentially ejecting pieces that could injure the user or bystanders.

The recall covers STIHL BR 800 Magnum models X and C-E, which are gasoline-powered backpack blowers. The products are gray and orange and display “STIHL,” “BR 800,” and “X” or “C-E” on the back. Affected units have serial numbers between 546515117 and 547916107, printed on a label attached to the blower tube.
