TopHomer Recalls Allegedly Defective Pool Drain Covers Due to Entrapment and Drowning Hazards


TopHomerUS has announced a recall of certain pool drain covers due to safety concerns that could place swimmers at risk of serious injury or death.

The recalled drain covers do not meet the federal entrapment-protection requirements under the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. When installed in swimming pools, the covers can pose entrapment and drowning hazards to swimmers and bathers.

This recall involves TopHomer-branded 8-inch pool drain covers intended for use in swimming pools. The covers are white, made of ABS plastic, and feature a top grate measuring approximately 7.2 inches in diameter with an 8-inch mounting plate. The markings “Listed suction fitting,” “SP-1053-B,” and “88D9 148 GPM” appear on the center of the grate. Additional text on the outer ring instructs users to secure the grate to the drain with screws at all times.
