Driver Killed in an Accident with a Parked Semi-Truck on Meridian Parkway in Riverside, California

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — An 18-year-old man died Tuesday morning after his vehicle crashed into a stopped semi-truck on Meridian Parkway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded to reports of a collision involving a silver Honda Civic and a commercial truck just south of Innovation Drive.

Preliminary findings indicate the Honda struck the rear of a semi-truck that had been stopped along the roadway. The young driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the semi-truck had been parked near a “No Stopping Bike Lane” sign while the driver checked whether a gate to a nearby facility was open. As the truck driver reentered the vehicle to move it, the impact occurred.
