Scepter Gas and Oil Combination Fuel Containers Recalled Over Serious Injury and Death, and Child Safety Risks

Mameix Retail has announced a recall of certain Scepter gas-and-oil combination fuel containers after determining that the products do not meet federal safety standards and pose a significant risk of injury or death.

According to the recall notice, the containers do not include the required flame-mitigation devices mandated by the Portable Fuel Container Safety Act. Without these safety features, the containers present a heightened risk of flash fires.

Additionally, the product’s spout does not meet child-resistance requirements under the Children’s Gasoline Burn Prevention Act. The lack of a child-resistant closure increases the danger of burn injuries or poisoning if children gain access to the fuel.

The recall involves Scepter B62 gas-and-oil combination fuel containers. The words “Scepter” and “Essence Danger” are molded into the side of the container.
