Ruahouine Recalls Allegedly Defective Hair Growth Serum Over Child Poisoning and Death Risk


Ruahouine has issued a recall of its hair growth serum after it was found to be sold in packaging that does not meet federal child-resistant requirements, creating a serious risk of poisoning to young children.

Safety officials report that the recalled serum contains minoxidil, a medication that must be packaged in child-resistant containers under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The bottles currently in circulation do not have child-resistant closures, which could allow children to access and swallow the contents. Ingesting minoxidil can cause severe injury and, in extreme cases, be fatal.

The recall involves Ruahouine Hair Growth Serum sold in 60 ml (2.11 fluid ounce) transparent amber dropper bottles. The bottles are labeled with the brand name “Ruahouine” and include the phrases “Minoxidil Hair Growth Serum” and “5% Minoxidil With Biotin” on a wraparound label.
