Man Dies in a Worksite Fall Accident Inside Industrial Facility in the 10000 block of Old Burleson Road, Southeast Fort Worth, Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man in his mid-20s died Tuesday afternoon following a fall inside an industrial building in southeast Fort Worth, authorities said. Officers were dispatched to an industrial property located in the 10000 block of Old Burleson Road.

Fort Worth Fire officials said the man fell approximately 20 feet inside the facility. When emergency crews arrived, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim’s name has not yet been released. Authorities have not provided additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the fall.

When Workplace Fatalities Occur: Examining Safety Standards and Responsibility

How could this have happened? They did this every day. What went wrong? These are questions families often ask us after losing a loved one in a workplace accident.

While we do not yet have all the facts in this case, most serious workplace injuries and deaths are preventable when proper safety measures are in place. Federal safety standards require fall protection at specific heights. In many workplaces, guardrails, safety nets, or personal fall arrest systems must be used when employees are working above certain elevations. If those safeguards are ignored, the consequences can be fatal. Were those protections in place here?

We have seen what happens when these safety protocols are not followed. In a prior case, we had a wife and mother of three small children lose her husband to a fall at a construction site. The worker was performing maintenance when he fell through an unprotected opening, plummeting 30 feet to his death.

Upon further investigation, we found that this accident was entirely preventable. The contractor responsible for overseeing safety at the site failed to implement basic fall protection measures and ignored clear risks to its workers. The company tried to avoid accountability, but we fought to hold them responsible.

The family of the young man who lost his life in Fort Worth deserves clear answers. A thorough investigation is necessary to determine what happened and whether this tragedy could have been prevented. If safety failures contributed, those responsible must answer for them.

We hope the surviving family receives the truth they need.
