One Killed, Another Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident Involving Semi-truck on Highway 169 in Owasso, Oklahoma

OWASSO, Okla. — One person was killed and another injured Monday morning following a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck on Highway 169.

Authorities reported that traffic was already slowed by an earlier crash when a commercial truck struck several vehicles, creating a backup. As many as four cars were involved in the chain-reaction collision.

One vehicle was forced off the roadway during the impact and caught fire. The driver of that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual injured in the crash was transported to a local hospital.

Police indicated that the driver of the semi-truck may face charges pending the outcome of the investigation. Officers also reminded motorists to remain attentive in heavy traffic conditions and avoid distractions like cell phones while driving.

The surviving family and the injured deserve answers and justice

What a tragic accident. Monday mornings often bring heavy traffic as people return to work after the weekend. Commercial truck drivers know this. They understand that traffic can slow without warning. They are trained to stay alert, monitor changing conditions, and maintain a safe following distance. When traffic is already backed up, those responsibilities matter even more.

But unfortunately, collisions like the one on Highway 169 are not rare. We have seen families torn by grief because a commercial truck failed to stop in time.

In a case we previously handled, a commercial truck driver ignored slowing traffic after becoming distracted by a text message alert. The truck violently rear-ended a family’s vehicle, killing three innocent people.

The surviving family came to us seeking answers and accountability for their sudden loss. Our investigation revealed that the driver had a documented history of violations that the trucking company failed to address appropriately. We held both the driver and the company responsible for those failures.

The families affected here deserve answers and accountability. One person did not make it home, and another is recovering in a hospital bed from injuries they did not deserve. It is not enough that the semi-truck driver may face charges. If negligence played a role, every responsible party must answer to the families.

We hope all the facts come to light soon.
