Outdoor Master Recalls Allegedly Defective Children’s and Youth Helmets Due to Serious Head Injury Hazard


WASHINGTON — Outdoor Master has announced a recall of its children’s and youth helmets after federal regulators found the products fail to meet the mandatory safety standard for bicycle helmets.

According to officials, the helmets do not comply with key requirements for positional stability and coverage; they may not stay in place or provide adequate protection during a crash. This defect poses a risk of serious injury or death from head trauma.

The recall covers two models of Outdoor Master-branded children’s and youth bicycle or multi-purpose helmets:

  • Model OM-TD BIKE — A blue children’s helmet with a dinosaur print, black padding, black straps, a black buckle, and a black rear adjustment knob. Sold in size small (S) for head circumferences of 48–52 cm (18.9–20.5 inches). A label inside the helmet displays “OM-TD BIKE” and “05/2024,” with the brand name printed on the back.
  • Model OM-KSKB — A deep green youth helmet with black padding, yellow straps, a black buckle, and a black rear adjustment knob. Sold in size small (S) for head circumferences of 46–52 cm (18.1–20.5 inches). A label inside the helmet displays “OM-KSKB” and “11/2022,” with the brand name printed on the front and back.
