Rainbow Play Systems Recall Allegedly Defective Yellow Plastic Trapeze Rings Due to Fall and Injury Hazard


SIOUX FALLS, SD — Rainbow Play Systems announced a recall of its yellow plastic trapeze rings after reports that the components can crack or break during use, creating a fall hazard for children.

The recall applies only to the yellow plastic rings sold with or attached to Rainbow-branded residential wooden playsets. The rings are triangular with rounded edges and include a top loop for attachment. They were sold in pairs and connected to a trapeze bar. Consumers may have purchased them as stand-alone accessories or as part of several Rainbow playset models, including the All-American, Backyard Circus, Carnival, Fiesta, King Kong, Monster, Sunray, Sunshine, and Rainbow series.

The affected playsets can be identified by an aluminum plate mounted to the front of the wooden swing beam, stamped with one of the following names: Playgrounds America, Rainbow Play Systems Inc., or Sunray Premium Playgrounds.

Rainbow Play Systems has received more than 100 reports of the rings cracking or breaking during use. Fifteen of those incidents involved injuries.
