BMW Recalls Several Vehicles Due to Defective Airbag Inflators


BMW has announced a recall involving several vehicle models due to a defect in the head airbag inflator.

According to a recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the affected vehicles may have a head airbag inflator with a weld joint that can fail. If the weld joint separates, gas may leak from the inflator or the inflator could rupture, potentially causing the airbag to malfunction and increasing the risk of injury to occupants.

The recall affects a total of 851 vehicles and includes the following models:

  • 2014 BMW 4 Series Coupe (428i, 428i xDrive, 435i, 435i xDrive)
    • 2014 BMW 3 Series Sedan (320i, 320i xDrive, 328i, 328i xDrive, 335i, 335i xDrive)
    • 2014–2015 BMW 2 Series Coupe (228i, 228i xDrive, M235i, M235i xDrive)
