Ford Recalls Certain 2026 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty Trucks Over Rear Axle Shaft Defect

DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of approximately 7,500 Super Duty pickup trucks after discovering a defect in the right rear axle shaft that could increase the risk of a crash.

The recall affects certain 2026 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks equipped with right-rear axle shafts that may fracture due to improper heat treatment during manufacturing. If an axle shaft breaks, the truck could lose propulsion while driving or roll away while in PARK.

Ford identified the issue after several trucks experienced fractures in the right rear axle shafts during internal impact testing. Further review showed that a supplier error during heat treatment may have affected a limited number of axle shafts. Because the affected parts cannot be identified without inspection, Ford is recalling all vehicles that may contain the defective component.

Drivers may notice unusual noise coming from the rear axle if a shaft begins to fail, according to the company.

A similar recall has been issued in Canada involving 683 trucks.
