Vasicar Recalls Allegedly Defective 18-Drawer Dressers Due to Tip-Over and Entrapment Hazards

Vasicar has announced a recall of its 18-drawer dressers due to a safety risk that can result in serious injury or death, particularly to children.

According to the recall notice, the dressers can become unstable if not secured to a wall. This instability creates tip-over and entrapment hazards. The products do not meet mandatory federal safety requirements for clothing storage units under the STURDY Act.

The recall involves Vasicar 18-Drawer Dressers sold in black, white, gray, and mixed color combinations. The dressers feature a metal frame, a wooden top, and 18 collapsible fabric drawers. Each unit measures approximately 37.8 inches long, 11.8 inches wide, and 57.1 inches tall. Some recalled units are identified on the packaging with model numbers “VR-US18D-Black,” “VR-US18D-White,” “VR-US18D-Gray,” and “VR-US18D-Mixed.”

Dressers are used in everyday spaces: bedrooms, nurseries, living rooms, and even entryways. In many homes, you can find a dresser in almost every room. Because these pieces of furniture are so popular, they must be built with safety in mind to prevent tipping over and causing entrapment or serious harm. This is especially true in homes with children.

Before dressers (or any furniture, for that matter) are sold, they need to be tested to ensure they are designed safely. An everyday household item should never carry a risk of causing harm or death to the most vulnerable in our homes: our children.

Consumers trust that the products they rely on every day are safe. When a dresser tips over and causes serious harm, families are left trying to understand how a basic piece of furniture could do this. They deserve clear answers about what went wrong and whether it should have happened at all.

When a defective product causes injury, or even death, families are often left dealing with medical needs, financial burdens, and uncertainty about what comes next. Our lawyers for recalled products analyze design flaws and manufacturing records to prove negligence.
