Sanven Technology Recalls Allegedly Defective VEVOR Garment Steamers Due to Burn Hazard and Reported Injuries

WASHINGTON — Sanven Technology has issued a recall of VEVOR garment steamers after reports that the products can leak or expel hot water, posing a serious burn risk to users and nearby individuals.

According to safety officials, the steamers may spit or leak hot water during use. In addition, the water tank cap can loosen or detach, exposing users to scalding water and steam. The recall involves VEVOR-branded garment steamers designed to remove wrinkles from clothing and textiles.

The recalled steamers are white with an oval-shaped steam vent opening and orange lettering reading “VEVOR” and “TOUGH TOOLS, HALF PRICE” printed on the side beneath the water reservoir window. A red toggle power switch is located on the handle. Product labels on the bottom list “VEVOR,” “Garment Steamer,” model number “FCL-H09,” and the manufacturer, Guangdong ESINO Technology Group Co., Ltd. The steamers were sold with a silver-colored protective glove.

Sanven Technology has received multiple reports of hot water leaking, dripping, or pouring from the steamers, as well as reports of water tank caps detaching, fitting loosely, or melting. At least two burn injuries have been reported, including one incident that resulted in a second-degree burn and permanent scarring.
