Honda Recalls Allegedly Defective Tire Repair Kits Installed in Certain 2023 through 2026 Vehicles Due to Risk of Injury


UNITED STATES — Honda is recalling approximately 1 million tire repair kits installed in certain Honda vehicles after reports that improper use may cause pressure to build inside the sealant bottle, creating a risk of injury.

The recall involves tire repair kits installed in certain 2023 through 2026 Honda vehicles, including the Honda Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid, and CR-V e: FCEV.

According to Honda, the issue can occur if the tire repair kit is used while the nozzle is not properly connected to the tire valve. In that situation, pressure may build inside the sealant bottle. If the relief valve does not release pressure as intended, the bottle cap may detach unexpectedly.

Honda said it has received eight reports of injuries in the United States related to the issue.
