SAMIT Recalls Allegedly Defective Youth Multi-Purpose Helmets Due to Head Injury and Death Risk


UNITED STATES — SAMIT Outdoor has announced a recall of certain youth multi-purpose helmets after determining that the products do not meet federal bicycle helmet safety standards and may fail to adequately protect children in a crash.

According to the recall notice, the helmets do not meet the required positional stability requirements. As a result, the helmets may not remain properly secured on a child’s head during impact, increasing the risk of serious head injury or death.

The recall involves SAMIT multi-purpose helmets marketed for children and sold in one size designed to fit head circumferences of approximately 21 to 23 inches. The affected helmets were available in “crack” blue, “crack” red, and “crack” black with a cracked paint pattern, as well as a solid black version. The helmets feature gray interior padding, black straps, a black-and-red buckle with a black chin strap, and a black adjustment knob on the back for sizing.

The helmets were sold online, including through Amazon, by SAMIT Outdoor.
