Gregory Painter Killed and Two Injured in a Motorhome Tire Blowout Accident on Interstate 15 in Mesquite, Nevada

MESQUITE, Nevada — A Las Vegas man died following a crash involving a motorhome that experienced a tire blowout on Interstate 15 in Mesquite, Nevada. The incident also involved a 2025 Volvo semi-truck and a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe.

According to authorities, a 2017 Thor motorhome was traveling southbound on I-15 near Sandhill Boulevard when its left front tire blew out. The motorhome moved across the southbound lanes, traveled through the center median, and entered the northbound side of the interstate.

The motorhome then collided with the side of a 2025 Volvo semi-truck and trailer before overturning and catching fire. The impact pushed the Volvo toward a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, which was also struck.

The motorhome driver, identified as 62-year-old Gregory Painter of Las Vegas, was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. A passenger in the motorhome was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The Hyundai driver was also transported to a hospital for treatment.

No additional details have been released.
