STIHL Announces Recall of Allegedly Defective Multiple Gas-Powered Yard Tools Due to Risk of Fire


VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — STIHL has issued a recall for several gas-powered outdoor tools after discovering that a fuel tank vent on certain units may not have been installed correctly at the factory, creating a potential fuel leak and fire hazard.

The recall includes specific models of edgers, trimmer/brushcutters, pole pruners, and KombiMotors. Affected units include FC 56 C edgers; FS 40 C, FS 50 C, FS 56 C, and FS 56 RC trimmer/brushcutters; HT 56 C pole pruners; and KM 56 RC KombiMotors. Each model number is printed on the starter cover located at the rear of the engine.

The recalled tools are gray and orange with the STIHL name on the engine housing. All units within serial numbers 501830112 through 504083576 are included. The serial number is on a label on the underside of the engine.
