Belkin Recalls Allegedly Defective Power Banks and Wireless Charging Stands Due to Risk of Fire and Injury

WASHINGTON – Federal safety officials have announced a recall of select Belkin portable power banks and wireless charging stands after reports of overheating incidents that have resulted in fires and burn injuries.

According to officials, the lithium-ion batteries in these products may overheat during use, posing a potential fire and burn hazard to consumers.

The recall covers wireless charging stands identified as model MMA008 and portable power banks sold under model numbers BPB002 and PB0003. The affected MMA008 charging stands include 14-digit serial numbers beginning with 57X, printed on the bottom of the unit. BPB002 power banks include 14-digit serial numbers starting with 35S, located on the back of the device. All PB0003 power banks are included in the recall, regardless of serial number.

The MMA008 charging stands and BPB002 power banks were sold in black, while the PB0003 units were available in black or white.
