Aborder Products Recalls Allegedly Defective Cumbor Retractable Safety Gates Due to Entrapment and Death Risk


WASHINGTON — Aborder Products has announced a recall of Cumbor-branded retractable safety gates after federal safety officials determined the product does not comply with mandatory standards for expansion gates and enclosures.

According to safety authorities, a child’s torso can pass through the space between the bottom of the gate and the floor, posing a risk of serious injury or death due to entrapment.

The recall involves Cumbor retractable safety gates featuring a metal frame and a mesh screen, measuring approximately 34 inches high and with an adjustable width of up to 55 inches. The gates were sold in black, gray, and white and were packaged with one or more suction cups.

Product identification details are printed on a label sewn onto the mesh screen and include “Model Name: Retractable Safety Gate,” “Model Number: S5V2,” and “Cohort Information: A202504S5V2A001.”
