UNITED STATES — Hyundai has issued a recall affecting 4,555 model year 2026 Kona SUVs equipped with gasoline engines due to a potential defect involving the steering system.

According to documents submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, certain vehicles may have front steering knuckles that were improperly manufactured during casting. The defect could cause the component to crack under stress, particularly during driving conditions that place added pressure on the steering assembly, such as sharp turns.

If the steering knuckle fractures, it could result in a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall applies only to 2026 Hyundai Kona gasoline models sold in the United States.
