Vive Health Recalls Allegedly Defective Adult Bed Rails Following Reports of Two Entrapment Deaths

UNITED STATES — Vive Health has recalled more than 122,000 adult portable bed rails after federal safety officials warned that users can become trapped within the rails or between the rail and mattress, creating a serious risk of asphyxiation and death.

This recall also comes after two reports of fatal entrapment incidents linked to one of the recalled models. The deaths involved a man living in an assisted living facility in Texas and a man at his residence in Florida.

The recall involves three Vive Health bed rail models: the Compact Bed Rail (model LVA2009SLV), the Bed Rail Collection V (model LVA2097SLV), and certain units of the Bed Rail model LVA1024 purchased on or before August 21, 2023. The metal rails are silver or white, with black foam-grip handles, and may not display model numbers or brand labels.

They were sold nationwide at medical supply retailers and through online sellers, including Vive Health’s website and Amazon, from September 2019 through December 2025.
