Burn Injury Lawyers File Lawsuit Against Amazon After Child Suffers Severe Burns from Exploding Tabletop Fire Pit

The Ammons Law Firm has filed a lawsuit against Amazon following a serious burn injury incident in Oklahoma County in which a tabletop fire pit allegedly exploded and caused severe injuries to a minor child visiting a children’s museum.

According to the petition filed by The Ammons Law Firm in Oklahoma County District Court, the incident occurred in June 2025 when a tabletop fire pit purchased by a children’s museum from Amazon exploded, causing serious burn injuries to the minor child who was visiting the museum as an invitee.

The lawsuit alleges that Amazon knew or should have known that this product posed serious risks of fire and burn injuries due to flame jetting, a dangerous phenomenon that occurs when liquid fuel is added to the fire pit, causing an explosion that can propel flames or burning liquids onto users and innocent bystanders. The lawsuit claims that Amazon is liable under product liability law since the product was allegedly defective and unreasonably dangerous when sold.

The family is seeking substantial damages, including compensatory damages of more than 10 million dollars, for the child’s burn injuries, medical expenses, pain, and suffering. They also request punitive damages exceeding $10 million against both defendants for their alleged reckless and negligent conduct. The lawsuit demands that both defendants be held jointly and severally liable for the catastrophic injuries suffered by the child.
