Lawsuit filed by Product Liability Lawyers After Hyundai Seatback Failure Causes Spinal Injury in Rear-End Collision

A new lawsuit filed by the Ammons Law Firm alleges that a defective driver’s seatback in a Hyundai Kona contributed to life-altering spinal injuries sustained by a Wisconsin man in a rear-end collision. The suit names Hyundai Motor Company and Hyundai Motor America as defendants, accusing them of negligent design and failure to address known safety issues related to seatback integrity in rear-impact crashes.

According to the lawsuit filed in Milwaukee County Circuit Court, the crash occurred when the victim was wearing his seatbelt and stopped at a red light at an intersection. An uninsured motorist struck him from behind, and the lawsuit alleges that the collision became catastrophic due to a defective seatback design. It further alleges that Hyundai failed to design the seat to provide proper support and occupant protection, despite decades of research and crash data, which resulted in the defective seatback causing enhanced injuries. The lawsuit further alleges that Hyundai failed to conduct adequate safety testing and willfully ignored a long history of similar seatback failures.

The victim is seeking compensation for extensive medical expenses, lost wages, pain, and suffering. As well as long-term physical and emotional harm. The lawsuit seeks punitive damages, citing Hyundai’s alleged disregard for customer safety and failure to correct a known and recurring product defect.
