Personal Injury Lawyers File Lawsuit Against Taylor Machine Works and Dix Shipping After Longshoreman Suffers Catastrophic Injuries

In May 2024, what began as a routine workday turned catastrophic when a Taylor XRS-9972 struck a longshoreman working on a reach stacker for Dix Shipping Co., Inc. The worker became trapped between the massive vehicle’s right rear tire and wheel well, resulting in the loss of his left arm and left leg, a traumatic brain injury, damage to his right leg, and other serious injuries.

The lawsuit alleges that equipment sales representatives deliberately withheld critical safety information when leasing the reach stacker to Dix Shipping Co., Inc. According to the petition, representatives from Taylor Machine Works-related companies knew the reach stacker had dangerous blind spots where the operator could not see pedestrians without the detection system, yet deliberately withheld this information from Dix Shipping and its employees.
