Moriah Pierce and Two Others Injured in Accident with Semi-truck Near the Intersection of Kessler Avenue and Summit Street in Schulenburg, Texas

SCHULENBURG, Texas — Three people were seriously injured Monday evening in a crash involving an 18-wheeler in Schulenburg. The collision happened near the intersection of Kessler Avenue and Summit Street.

According to reports, a Nissan Juke carrying 34-year-old Moriah Pierce and two passengers was traveling eastbound when it collided with a southbound tractor-trailer. Authorities believe the semi-truck entered the intersection against a red light before the crash.

Pierce and the other occupants of the Nissan sustained serious injuries in the collision.

Failure to Stop at Red Light Raises Serious Accountability Concerns After 18-Wheeler Crash

Collisions like this cause great sadness and great anger. Traffic lights are there for a reason: to prevent crashes. Ms. Pierce and the other occupants in the Nissan should have been able to make it through that intersection safely, but instead, multiple people were seriously injured in an instant because a tractor-trailer allegedly ran a red light.

In the blur that follows a crash like this, lives can change instantly. One moment, people are simply driving through an intersection. The next second, they are in a hospital facing serious injuries and uncertainty about what recovery will look like moving forward. They deserve answers and accountability.

Often, the answers will reveal more than one failure. They may point to problems in training, maintenance, or company oversight—problems that should have been addressed long before anyone was seriously injured. We know this from decades of experience handling similar cases and helping injured people through devastating truck accidents.

Ms. Pierce and the other people injured in this collision deserve accountability from those whose actions caused this crash. My hope is that they can get clear answers about what happened and fully recover from their injuries.
