The Ammons Law Firm has filed a lawsuit against Zenna Tires, API International, Inc., and Siam Radial Tire Company following a devastating truck tire blowout that caused catastrophic injuries to a Texas truck driver.

According to the lawsuit, the April 2024 crash was caused by a defect in a Zenna tire. While traveling at highway speeds, the tire suffered a belt-to-belt tread separation — a defect that occurs when the tire fails to bond properly during manufacturing. The lawsuit alleges the tire was defective from the moment it was made, with poor design and improper manufacturing that allowed the tread to separate unexpectedly under normal driving conditions. The lawsuit alleges that this type of failure is extremely dangerous at highway speeds and leads to complete loss of control. The case has national implications, as the defective tire was part of a distribution network that brings Zenna-brand truck tires into the U.S. market through Arizona-based American Pacific Industries, Inc., also known as API International.

The lawsuit alleges that the failure caused the driver to lose control of his truck, resulting in a rollover crash. The driver suffered catastrophic injuries and was airlifted to a trauma center. Due to the severity of his injuries, he later underwent a partial leg amputation, including the amputation of his right foot. The lawsuit alleges that the injured driver continues to suffer life-altering injuries that have left him disabled and unable to work.
