General Motors Issues Updated Recall for Chevrolet Silverado Over Rear Wheel Lock and Crash Risk

UNITED STATES — General Motors has announced an updated safety recall for certain Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks after determining that some vehicles may not have received the correct repair under a prior recall addressing a transmission issue.

The earlier recall, issued in November 2024, involved a potential transmission valve defect that could cause the rear wheels to lock while the vehicle is in motion. GM has now identified a limited number of trucks that may have undergone an improper remedy and remain at risk for the same condition.

If the rear wheels lock up during driving, the driver could lose control of the vehicle, increasing the likelihood of a crash.

The updated recall affects the following models:
• 2020–2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
• 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
• 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD

According to GM, the recall includes 34 Silverado 1500 trucks, 218 Silverado 2500HD trucks, and 76 Silverado 3500HD trucks, for a total of 328 vehicles.
