Two Seriously Injured in Accident Involving Two Semi-Trucks and SUV Near Interstate-40 in Amarillo, Texas

AMARILLO, Texas — Two people were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks and an SUV near Interstate 40 and FM 1912.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, preliminary findings indicate that one of the semi-trucks failed to control its speed and struck the SUV.

The impact pushed the SUV into another semi-truck traveling in front of it.

Two people were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Semi-Truck Drivers Have a Duty to Control Their Speed

We see preventable collisions like this one all the time: a semi-truck unable to slow down in time to respond to changing traffic ahead. These situations rarely end without serious injury.

Our firm recently handled a similar case in Texas involving a truck driver who admitted to looking at his cell phone moments before crashing into our client’s vehicle. The driver failed to control his speed, and the collision caused life-changing injuries. That crash was entirely preventable. Not only did the driver act recklessly, but the trucking company also failed to properly train and supervise its employees, allowing unsafe driving habits to persist.

Now, they are trying to avoid accountability, and that’s something we see far too often.

The two people seriously injured here also deserve answers. Why was the semi-truck driver unable to slow down in time? Our experience has shown that trucking companies often try to avoid these questions and instead move quickly to limit their liability, pushing for fast settlements. The injured and their families deserve so much more.

We hope both people injured in this crash make a full recovery and find the answers they need.
