$1.485 MILLION

$1,485,000 Settlement in Texas Workplace Accident Involving Multiple Contractors

The personal injury attorneys at the Ammons Law Firm successfully resolved a complex work injury lawsuit on behalf of a man who suffered severe, debilitating injuries after falling from an oilfield platform.

Several different companies had been brought in to handle different pieces of the same project, and no one had taken the time to make sure their work would not collide.

One of those companies had already built a structure that crowded into the exact space our client needed in order to safely secure his platform. Nobody flagged it. Nobody moved it. Nobody stopped the work long enough to sort it out. So he kept working, because that is what the job site was telling him to do, and the platform tipped, sending him to the ground.

He survived, but not without serious and lasting injury.

This case is a good example of what happens when too many contractors show up to the same job with too little coordination. The company that controlled the site had brought in a specialty contractor to perform hydraulics work at the wellhead, a separate company to manage and oversee that work, and yet another company hired specifically to watch over safety. Each of those companies had a job to do to keep the work site safe for the people on it. None of them did that job well enough.

That is the pattern we see again and again in workplace accident cases like this one. It is rarely one failure. It is a string of smaller ones. A structure built before it should have been. A hazard that should have been obvious but was missed. A safety plan that existed on paper but was never carried out in the field. Put enough of those failures together, and someone gets hurt.

We pursued claims against every company responsible for managing and coordinating the work, alleging negligence and gross negligence, and secured a settlement for our client to help him move forward with his life.

If you or someone you love has been hurt on a job site where multiple contractors were working at the same time, we know how to untangle who was responsible and hold them accountable. Learn more about how we handle workplace accident cases.
