What to Do During a Tire Recall
If you are not sure if your tire is under recall, the first step is to call the tire manufacturer. Their customer service team will be able to advise you of any recalls and how to replace the tire.
How to Report a Defective Tire
If you believe that your tire is defective, you can submit a Vehicle Complaint Form at safercar.gov. Before you begin filling out the form, you will need to know the brand, the line, the size, and the DOT Tire Identification Number.
If the manufacturer of a tire will not replace your recalled tires within a reasonable amount of time, or if they attempt to charge you for new tires, you can call the Vehicle Safety Hotline at (855) 971-1662 and file a report with the Secretary of Transportation.
